Full name: Implications for State Spending of Minnesota’s Projected Demographic Trends to 2030 (September 1998)

Summary: Our report is not the definitive study on Minnesota's fiscal condition in the year 2030. Rather, we attempt to answer a specific and fairly narrow question: After adjusting for expected inflation, how heavy will the burden of state government spending be relative to personal income if current population projections are correct and current program costs per client continue to grow at the same rate as they grew in the 1990s?
